02/04/2005: "BAIT........it squirts seawater"

At low tide around the rocks, fishermen cut open the tough but soft top of cunjevoi and remove the red meat of the animal inside for fish hook bait. An empty shell is to the left of this live specimen. When touched firmly the cunjevoi squirt seawater - but they'll do this anyway, at times.
This picture was at North Stradbroke Island, Queensland. The model is a European backpacker from Switzerland who was enjoying the autumn sunshine at this pristine location off Brisbane.
