24/04/2005: "SYDNEY YOUTH"

Market Street, Sydney - near Pitt Street. STATE theatre sign barely visible. about 1960 - this group from the inner suburbs of Glebe, Annandale were walking to Rushcutters Bay for a Sydney Stadium big show featuring USA rock stars.
You may have encountered the same guys at: Johnny O'Keefe dances, Six O'Clock Rock, Luna Park, Annandale ROYAL cinema on Saturday arvo, North Sydney swimming pool, Bronte Beach.....and later various hotels.
'Joe' became an infamous street fighter who survived the tough life he craved. Most had pregnant girlfriends in the 18 months after this picture was taken by an unknown street photographer. Such was life before we discovered distractions in the sea with spearguns.....and later movie cameras and sharks.
