Bob Endean was a regular at the Heron Island where there is a marine research station.

(The late Dr Robert Endean was the former Reader in Zoology, University of Queensland – pictured here with a crown-of-thorns starfish collected elsewhere in 1969).

Footnote: There was never a crown-of-thorns starfish problem at Heron Island.

Pictures taken underwater on the small bommie off Heron were inadvertently used to illustrate the overall beauty of the entire GBR once.
