27/04/2009: "STARVING CAT GETS A FEED.....delicious Taiwan tuna."

A bath and a brushing would make a world of difference

I fed a starving cat my lunch yesterday (a can of Bluefin tuna). We were on a long bike ride. The cat was in a bad way - terrible voice. Anyway it had a feed. After that, the rest of our day was quite remarkable as one good thing after another seemed to happen.

This morning I wondered about the cat.

We'll never know a lot of things. Ancient Egyptians obviously worshiped cats to a great extent.

It may not have been a simple Egyptian fad someone invented and everyone followed. Maybe there's more to what cats do to us (and for us) than can be studied by conventional 'science'.

I reckon if anyone mistreats a cat (deliberately or with neglect) they are in for a bit of extra trouble in life and most will never realize the connection - if indeed there is a connection?

Authorities on the subject (Sir Rolf Harris) would strongly advise against any form of cat mistreatment. Just do the opposite! Show some kindness.

To some people this is just rubbish. This is to be expected.

The script in Robert DeNiro's "Meet the Parents" movie has an enlightening and simple explanation of the cats versus dogs subject. i.e. Dogs submit easily to man whereas with cats you need to work hard to get their trust.

I might start carrying a spare can of tuna around with me for emergencies like yesterday. I used to do this ages ago when touring Australia by car showing my 16mm underwater movies to Australians.

THE TAIWAN CONNECTION.

There are connecting stories which illustrate how such a simple act of kindness can change directions in your life forever.

An example might be "joining the army" but what inspired the decision?

A lecture in Melbourne (1997) by Depak Chopra illustrated how we can examine important events which are connected to a single starting point event. One thing leading to another and then another. Without the first the others would not have occurred.

FED FERAL CAT. I saved a black and white kitten from certain death (at Sun Pictures cinema, Broome, Western Australia, 1996).

This lead to a chain of events which are linked to my being in Taiwan today, my 8th visit in six years.

Without that kitten in Broome, I know a different path in life would have occurred.

Which is another story not entirely suitable for a blog on ocean subjects.

Cats eat fish and this is the connection today. Canned fish. From the tiny piece tasted yesterday, the quality was superb too.
